What did tourists do in Hong Kong 100 years ago? The Avenue of Stars certainly didn't exist then.
This is the subject of the current exhibition "Early Hong Kong Travel (1880-1939)" which showcases more than 100 exhibits at the University of Hong Kong Museum and Art Gallery.
Louis Vuitton and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Limited have contributed to the exhibition and LV's vintage monogrammed trunks are a big draw.
But the museum's honorary advisor Benjamin W. Yim, who has loaned much of his own collection of Hong Kong tourism historical artifacts to the exhibit, hopes that visitors will enjoy the show in its entirety.
"This exhibition can give everyone a perspective of Hong Kong history," says Yim.

Lady Gaga at the 2011 VMAs
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
Just as predicted, the 2011 Video Music Awards generated even more buzz than last year, with over 3 million tweets sent from 8 p.m. ET at the start of the pre-show until the end of the West Coast broadcast, 11 p.m. PT. Which makes perfect sense when we're talking about a show in which Selena Gomez interviewed Justin Bieber, Britney and Gaga almost made out, and, oh yeah, Beyoncé announced her pregnancy!
Female artists definitely ruled Twitter this year. Bey's baby news made her the most tweeted-about celeb overall, with the first twitpic of her touching her pregnant stomach on the red carpet passing 600,000 views in six hours. In that same six-hour window, the VMA Twitter Tracker clocked the top subject as Nicki Minaj in the first hour, Adele in the next, and then Lady Gaga and Beyoncé alternating in the final hours. But the guys weren't far behind, with Jay-Z and Kanye West (a.k.a. the Throne), Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Tyler, the Creator giving the ladies a run for their money.
Britney Spears talks about Jo Calderone after their onstage encounter.
For the entire duration of the VMAs, over half of the worldwide Twitter trends were VMA related, and at points they dominated eight or nine of the top 10 trends. Trends tended to coincide with a celeb's arrival (Wiz and Amber), a live interview (Selena and Justin) or the live performances (Adele). But some humorous trends emerged as well: The Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio, might have been surprised to see his name trending if he didn't tune in to see his doppelganger, Lady Gaga as Jo Calderone, appearing several times throughout the show. And Happy Trees trended briefly after Rick Ross appeared in a sketch in the show channeling the late painter and personalitya Bob Ross.
The trend #whatwillgagawear was one of the longest running of the evening, as was BEYONCE IS PREGNANT, which clearly called for caps, and #DemiYouAreBeautiful was a message to Demi Lovato from her many fans. Joe Jonas, Bruno Mars, Adele and Justin Bieber were all the subject of trends with words of encouragement started by their supporters.
The Twitter Tracker is continuing to monitor VMA activity, under top 10 celebs to check it out and see who's up in the days following the big show!

Need more Britney Spears amped-up club tracks in your life? Well, the Femme Fatale singer has your back. Britney tweeted her plan to release a remix album next month.
B in the Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2 will drop on October 11, and the singer had this to say about the release: "Exciting news people ... new remix album is coming out on 10/11! Pumped for you to hear these tracks - I love them."
The album will feature reworked versions of 10 of her songs, both from Femme Fatale and her previous work. The songs are: "Gimme More" (Kaskade Club Mix), "Piece of Me" (Tiësto Club Mix), "Radar" (Tonal Club Remix), "Womanizer" (Benny Benassi Extended), "Circus" (Linus Loves Remix), "If U Seek Amy" (U-Tern Remix), "3" (Manhattan Clique Club Remix), "Till the World Ends" (Alex Suarez Club Remix), "I Wanna Go" (Gareth Emery Remix) and "Criminal" (Varsity Team Remix).
Spears dropped the first part of the B in the Mix series back in November 2005. On that record, folks like Justice, Bill Hamel, Junkie XL and Jason Nevins, to name a few, put their spin on major releases and under-the-radar tracks including "Me Against the Music," "Touch of My Hand," "And Then We Kiss" and "Early Mornin'."
The news comes as Britney preps the release of her next single, the Femme Fatale slow jam "Criminal," which made the track listing for B in the Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2. Spears also recently tweeted that she's shooting the video for "Criminal" in England.

Demi Lovato's Unbroken debuts at #4.

It only took him 60 years, but ageless crooner Tony Bennett will finally snag his first #1 debut on the Billboard album charts next week when his star-studded Duets II album wins the crown.
The disc, which features songs recorded with Lady Gaga and late British R&B diva Amy Winehouse, sold 179,000 copies in its first week, which was good enough to push last week's top seller — Lady Antebellum's Own the Night — down to #2, as sales trailed off by 64 percent to 125,000.
Leading the list of other debuts in the top 10 was Demi Lovato, who hit #4 with Unbroken (96,000), followed by Needtobreathe's Reckoning (#6, 49,000), Mindless Behavior's #1 Girl (#7, 36,000) Gavin DeGraw's Sweeter (#8, 34,000) and the soundtrack to Pearl Jam Twenty (#10, 27,000).
The rest of the top 10: Adele, 21 (#3, 117,000); Lil Wayne, Tha Carter IV (#5, 84,000); and Jay-Z and Kanye West, Watch the Throne (#9, 31,000).
Just outside the top 10, teen singer Cody Simpson's Coast to Coast EP landed at #12 (24,000), hard rockers Thrice hit #18 with Major/Minor (20,000) and Tori Amos came in at #24 with her latest, Night of Hunters (18,000). Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger's multi-culti super group, SuperHeavy, debuted at #26 with their self-titled debut (18,000), while Staind took a major 23-slot tumble to #28 as their self-titled album shed 68 percent of its first-week business on sales of 15,000.
Bennett couldn't quite pull off the double-play on the iTunes album chart, where Lovato was #1, followed by Adele and Needtobreathe. Bennett was in at #4, ahead of Lady Antebellum, Wayne, DeGraw, the soundtrack to the movie "Drive," pre-orders for Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto and Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More.
Maroon 5 continued their hot summer run with "Moves Like Jagger," which held on to the top spot on the iTunes singles chart, beating out Adele's "Someone Like You," Foster the People 's "Pumped Up Kicks," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts" and LMFAO again with "Sexy and I Know It." Rihanna's "We Found Love" helped round out the chart at #7, in front of David Guetta's "Without You," Rihanna's "Cheers (Drink to That)" and Lady Gaga's "Yoü and I."
Look for debuts next week from J. Cole, Blink-182, Jason Derülo, Wilco, Mastodon and reissues from Nirvana and Pink Floyd.

Despite less-than-stellar reviews, Taylor Lautner's 'Abduction' comes in at #4.
By Ryan J. Downey
Simba and company partied like it was 1994 at the box office over the weekend as "The Lion King" remained #1 for the second weekend in a row. The 3-D re-release beat back competition from four wide releases while hauling in another $22.1 million, according to studio estimates.
All four of the other movies in the weekend's top five were new releases, but none had the strength to topple the legendary Disney animated film, which has grossed $61.7 million domestically in its 3-D format alone.
Brad Pitt's "Moneyball" and the kid-friendly "Dolphin Tale" were in close competition for the #2 spot, while Taylor Lautner's "Abduction" (which has been savaged by film critics) and the action-centric "Killer Elite" (also not a critical darling) both failed to generate much excitement.
"Moneyball" was still just barely ahead of "Dolphin Tale" at press time. The baseball-centered flick has done well with critics, according to film review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, where it has a 94 percent critical average. The movie took in $20.6 million, just $340,000 more than "Dolphin Tale."
Lautner's first post-"Twilight" vehicle mustered just $11.2 million to land at #4 on the box-office chart. "Abduction" is one of the most poorly reviewed films of 2011, barely beating the 0 percent Tomatometer rating of recently released "Bucky Larson" with a paltry 3 percent.
"[Lautner's] not a terrible actor, but if he wants a career after the 'Twilight' fades, he'll pick better films," wrote Entertainment Weekly.
The combined star power of Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro generated just $9.5 million for "Killer Elite." The film is based on the book of the same name and marked the feature film debut of Irish writer/director Gary McKendry, who has directed commercials for IKEA, Porsche and Heineken.
There were a few limited releases of note over the weekend as well, including two that featured blockbuster marquee stars from comic book movies: "Machine Gun Preacher," with "300" hero Gerard Butler in the title role, and "Puncture," which features Captain America himself, Chris Evans.
Next weekend's new releases include the dramedy "50/50," which stars Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen, who cowrote the picture partly based on his own close friendship with a cancer survivor.
Check out everything we've got on "The Lion King" and "Moneyball."

Celebrity fans including former 'NSYNC singer JC Chasez, tourmate DJ Pauly D and more weigh in on why Brit is still on top.

At the 2011 Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga's alter ego Jo Calderone presented Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award by telling the audience that Spears "taught us all how to be fearless." And that fearlessness was honored with a dance-heavy tribute to the pop star. Brit's ever-growing legacy is the reason why she was so deserving of the special award, her celebrity fans and members of her inner circle told MTV News.
"She never lets you down," her longtime choreographer Brian Friedman told MTV News on the VMA black carpet on Sunday night. "She's definitely not dull. There's always something crazy coming around the next turn. I think it's a mix between music, which is always incredible, the dance performance you see on the stage, the iconic videos, the fashion, and then the fact that she can't be knocked down."
We spotted Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and more hanging out backstage!
Those sentiments were mirrored by her pal and former 'NSYNC member JC Chasez, who noted that even at 30, "She's actually been around long enough [to have a tribute]. She has a body of work to pull from."
Spears' former tourmate, DJ Pauly D, also gushed about the singer, who won Best Pop Video for "Till The World Ends."
Find out how Beyoncé and Jay-Z Celebrated Their VMA Baby News!
"Oh, man! She deserves it out of anybody," the "Jersey Shore" star said. "She's been killing it forever now. She's got so many albums, and every time she brings out an album, she brings it."
After Gaga presented Spears with the award on Sunday, a group of young female dancers of various ages, dressed up in Britney-themed costumes from her hit music videos, took the stage to perform some of her most memorable moves.

Beyoncé's surprise pregnancy reveal wasn't the only bump to show up this week. A number of artists also got an expected iTunes VMA bump, as their singles shot up the iTunes digital charts in the wake of their performances on the record-setting broadcast.
The biggest leap was made by Adele, whose second single, "Someone Like You," shot right up to #1 on the tally in the wake of her dramatic appearance on the broadcast, a rise of 441 percent. The song was not even in the top 10 when iTunes released the charts for the week ending August 22. Though iTunes does not release sales figures, there was clearly some serious online purchasing that went on, in addition to a major flood of Twitter traffic caused by the VMAs.
Among the other beneficiaries were Lady Gaga, whose Jo Calderone-fueled take on "Yoü and I" pushed that song back into the top 10 to #4 as of Thursday (September 1). And, after dropping Tha Carter IV at midnight on Sunday, Lil Wayne was all over, with "Mirror" moving into the #5 position, "Blunt Blowin' " at #13, "MegaMan" at #23 and "How to Love" at #15.
Beyoncé herself had a boost from the night, as her "Love on Top" performance pushed the not-officially-released-as-a-single single to #3 (currently at #9) as sales picked up by 221 percent. Pre-show performers Cobra Starship were feeling the love also, as "You Make Me Feel" moved up to #6 after having faded to #11 before the broadcast.
Also benefitting were rockers Young the Giant, whose performance likely helped breakthrough single, "My Body," shoot up 223 percent to land at #2 on the alternative singles charts and #24 on the overall chart. The band's self-titled disc also saw some serious love, with sales expanding by 220 percent, moving up to #4 on the iTunes album chart. House artist Jessie J got the bump as well, with sales of her album, Who You Are shooting up nearly 200 percent.
Chris Brown's high-flying VMA medley also pushed him up the charts, as his singles "Beautiful People" and "Yeah 3X" soared by 904 and 149 percent, respectively, on the iTunes singles chart.
The love was spread far and wide, as evidenced by the 1,375 percent jump for Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse's version of "Valerie" — performed by Bruno Mars during the Amy Winehouse tribute — and the Foo Fighters' VMA-winning "Walk," which had a 120 percent jump on the iTunes singles chart. Sales of Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" were up 76 percent on the iTunes singles chart after the song was heard in the Britney tribute to the pop star and Pitbull's summer jam "Give Me Everything" surged 71 percent on the iTunes song tally following his performance.

Before Britney Spears kicks off the European leg of her Femme Fatale Tour later this month, she is taking care of a little business in England. Spears took to Twitter to reveal that the country would serve as the locale for her "Criminal" video.
"So excited to stop over in the UK before I start my European tour in a few weeks," she tweeted. "Can't wait! I LOVE London, it's like my second home. Decided to shoot the 'Criminal' video in the streets of merry old England when I get there..."
The news of the video shoot comes a week or so after the singer revealed to MTV News that her next single would be the Femme Fatale slow jam. She also teased that she had some interesting ideas for the video.
"The song, when I first heard it, it's really different and it's not anything I've heard like this before," she told us backstage at the VMAs. "So I really wanted to deliver this song. I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting. You'll have to see."
Vote for Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go" in our Song of the Summer poll over on the Newsroom blog!
Just in time for her Euro trip, Spears also graces the cover of Glamour's U.K. edition. In the magazine, the singer opens up about her next personal milestone: turning the big 3-0.
"I think the older you get, the wiser you get," she said. "I can't wait. I'm really excited and definitely gonna celebrate and do something spectacular. I'm gonna be in South America so I'll have to do something pretty fun. A carnival of Britney?"
Spears wears a dress with sequins and feathers on the cover, and in the article, she says she'd love to have William and Kate stop by one of her shows in London. "That would be amazing. That would be really crazy and cool. I think they're a beautiful couple," she said. "Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the [royal] wedding, but I heard it was beautiful."
Does Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go" have the people's support as Song of the Summer? Check out the video below to find out!
