Britney Spears 'Comes Alive' In The Studio, will.i.am Says

'She was like a little kid,' the 'Big Fat Bass' producer recalls to MTV News of giddy, 'giggling' Spears.

When will.i.am hit the studio with Britney Spears for her Femme Fatale track "Big Fat Bass," the producer and Black Eyed Peas frontman said the singer was completely engrossed in the recording process.

"[I discovered] her love for music. I never seen anyone, like, come alive, full of excitement and giggling and laughing behind the mic," will recalled to MTV News. "She was like a little kid when she was recording the song and it just brought the whole atmosphere, it changed the whole atmosphere when someone really loves music. So it was great working with her."

Spears expressed a similar sentiment about recording her chart-topping album during her recent "I Am the Femme Fatale" MTV special, which featured a cameo by will.i.am, who was finishing up the party track at the time.

"When you're in the studio, you're just really focused, you're really in your head and in your ears and on the notes," she explains in the show. "And when you're performing, it's more a connection on the outside and more of — like a tiger and more in your body."

Both Brit and will are now industry vets so the BEP singer said he didn't have much advice for the star.

"When someone's excited to go out and just do it, what advice? You don't need no advice. She's just turned on right now. She is [like], 'I like this part right here.' When I say [on the song], 'You all better get ready for the kick drum,' she was already anticipating what she was going to do onstage when that beat broke down," he explained. "Adding that type of perspective ... when we we're recording it, you don't need to give nobody [like Britney] advice."

What's your favorite Femme Fatale track? Tell us in the comments!

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Casey Abrams' Last Showmance

The Carole King songbook results in Abrams' second elimination of the season.
By Jim Cantiello

Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart

This week on "American Idol," the top six sang from the Carole King songbook, but the real theme of the night was showmances: Casey and Haley! Lauren and Scotty! Lauren and ... this dude [random audience guy]! Lauren and Steven Tyler! [Clip of Steven Tyler with a little blond toddler on his lap.] Damn, girl, are you trying to audition for "The Real World" or something?

But if we're talking musical promiscuity, Casey Abrams was the real "Hi De Ho." Pianos, trumpets, saxes, harmonicas ... The only thing he didn't hook up with was a melody.

Sit, Ubu, sit! Good dog. [Footage of Casey screaming plays with the sound of the Ubu "bark" from that '80s sitcom vanity plate.]

James Durbin had his best week yet but the brightest star on "Idol" was crazy Penny Marshall. [Jim is in a blond wig and sunglasses]. She is my inspiration.

I want to be her friend, I want to be Scotty's friend, and I really want to be Haley's fu-uh-riend, too.

Yo, Randy, why don't we "turn the other cheek" to Thursday night's results show, where Jimmy Iovine gave his two cents, and Haley told him where he could shove his two cents!

[Clip: Seacrest introduces Crystal Bowersox, but then the camera cuts to a burly male harmonica player.]

Whoa, Crystal really let herself go, didn't she? But Arrested Development hasn't aged a bit! [Footage of Bruno Mars and his 45-piece backing band, who were all sitting on a couch.]

And results!

There's your fake bottom three [the last contestants standing], there's your real bottom three [Lauren, Casey and Jacob sitting on the couch from earlier in the episode].

[Jim holds out a microphone as if he's a sports reporter on the field after the Super Bowl.] Hey, Casey Abrams! You just got cut from "Idol" for the second time. What are you going to do now?

[Jim shouts in a Casey voice.] "I'm going to Creepy World!" [Footage of him grabbing girls by the back of the neck and pulling them in for a kiss during his farewell performance.]

Ding!

Britney Spears Has Created 'Her Own Genre,' Dr. Luke Says

Femme Fatale producer tells MTV News the pop star defies categorization because she's 'forward-thinking.'
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Britney Spears
Photo: Max Morse/Getty Images

Since Britney Spears emerged on the scene nearly a decade and a half ago, she's run the gamut of pop music: from sugary bubble-gum to dirty, sexy dance tracks. In that respect, her longtime collaborator and Femme Fatale producer Dr. Luke says that the superstar has in many respects become bigger than pop. In fact, he says it's hard to confine her to just one genre.

"I feel like Britney kind of has her own genre: If you look at songs like 'Toxic' and 'Piece of Me' and 'Oops! ... I Did It Again,' they all were sort of influential and led the way," he told MTV News on Thursday (April 28) at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards.

So when the pair sat down to work on her latest release, Dr. Luke said her pop-music shape-shifting was very much on his mind. "She wanted to keep on with that and do stuff that was forward-thinking," he continued. "So we put some dubstep stuff in there, in bridges; snuck it in different places and I hope it ended up good. I hope you like it."

It seems every time Spears drops a new album, it's declared her comeback record. But Dr. Luke noted that Brit has really never gone anywhere. "Where'd she go? I don't know. I didn't know she ever disappeared, really," he said. "She's always been selling out concerts and records, so I don't know that she ever disappeared."

So what do Spears and Luke have up their sleeve now? "Not yet ... give me a second to breathe, come up for air!" he told us.

Plus, even with Femme Fatale already in stores, it seems like the pair are always finding ways to update the songs. Take, for example, the recent remix of "Till the World Ends," which features Ke$ha (the track's songwriter) and Nicki Minaj.

"Well, we already had Ke$ha on the song 'cause she co-wrote the song ... and she sounded really good on it," Dr. Luke explained. "And then Nicki got on the Femme Fatale Tour so we put Nicki on it and it just sounded amazing. She killed it."

Which version of "Till the World Ends" do you prefer? Tell us in the comments!

Ne-Yo Defends Beyonce 'Dis' Statements

'I'm tired of being nice to dumb people. ... Bottom line, Beyonce is my friend,' 'Irreplaceable' songwriter tweets.
By Jocelyn Vena

Ne-Yo
Photo: Mawuse Ziegbe/ MTV News

When a comment from Ne-Yo hit the Internet in which the songwriter said that he wished he could have kept the Beyoncé hit "Irreplaceable" for himself, some took it as a dis to the star.

"One song that I gave away and didn't want to, but it's actually a good thing that I did, is Beyonce's 'Irreplaceable'. I honestly wrote that song for myself, but that song taught me a very interesting lesson: Many women don't think that differently. ... However, a man singing it comes across a little bit misogynistic, a little bit mean," Ne-Yo, who wrote the song, said in an interview.

When it was implied on Twitter that Ne-Yo was dissing the Sasha Fierce star with his comments, the singer/songwriter defended himself. "Aiight my dude. Send me the link to where I said ANYTHING disrespectful about Beyonce, PLEASE! Dying to hear this," he wrote. "Just heard the audio where I supposedly dissed Beyonce. ARE Y'ALL SERIOUS!?! Did y'all even listen to what I said!?!"

Ne-Yo then continued to tweet his anger toward those who misunderstood what he said. "I said I originally wrote the song for me. That's true, so OF COURSE I didn't want to give it away originally. IT WAS FOR ME," he wrote. "Once I realized how the song comes across if sung by a guy, that's when I decided to give it away. HOW IS THAT DISSING BEYONCE!?! She took the song and made it a smash, NOBODY can deny that ...

"You know what? At first I was apologetic about what the hacker said, now that I've heard the audio myself, not so much," he continued. "Y'all should listen a lil' harder before you start dissin' people. Makes you look real dumb. I'm tired of being nice to dumb people. ... Bottom line, Beyonce is my friend. To HELL with anybody that ain't SMART enough to understand what I truly meant."

Do you want to help Lady Gaga give away $1 million dollars to charity? Well, little monsters, here's your chance! Mother Monster is hooking up with the Robin Hood Foundation to help homeless youth in New York, her hometown.

Fans can go to Gaga's Facebook page to weigh in on which organization — The Door, Hetrick-Martin Institute, Lawyers for Children, Safe Horizon or SCO Family of Services — will be gifted the sum ($500,000 a year over two years).

The results will be announced May 9 at a special concert benefiting Robin Hood. "I'm thrilled to be working with the Robin Hood Foundation to distribute funds to help the youth of New York City," Gaga said in a statement. "NYC is my hometown and I think investing in these kids' future will go a long way."

Days before Gaga attends the Robin Hood gala, her HBO special will air. While it is a concert special, it also serves as a love letter to the Big Apple. Shot during her time in New York for two tour stops at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, the documentary shows the singer opening up about her love for the city and how it helped shape her as an artist.

"There was never a question in my mind that I was gonna make it and that this is my destiny and that we were all gonna make it as the kids of this city, as the New York generation," she says, driving through the streets of New York to MSG. "My faith in my creativity and my artistry has nothing to do with making it," she continued. "We kind of had already made it when we were playing for nothing downtown. ... We still felt like we were superstars."

Which organization do you hope Gaga's money goes to? Sound off below!

Britney Spears 'Till The World Ends' Bollywood Remix Hits Web

The Femme Fatale singer takes to Twitter to encourage fans to 'check out this incredible ... remix.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Last week, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" got the Bollywood treatment when Indian composers Salim-Sulaiman remixed her feel-good disco track. Now, Britney Spears is feeling the Indian love from entertainment website Desi Hits! and the Culture Shock production team, who put their Bollywood-style spin on "Till the World Ends."

"Check out this incredible Desihits remix of Till The World Ends. I LOVE it!!!" Britney tweeted on Monday about the track.

The swirling take on Spears' hit tune boasts a "Punjabi breakdown" section that features some South Asian-sounding vocals from Culture Shock's Lomaticc and Sunny Brown. The track includes some added Desi flavors courtesy of dholki, dhol and tumbi beats, which are common in Indian music.

"Our goal was to take Britney's smash hit single and give fans a total Desi adrenaline rush," Culture Shock's Baba Kahn explained. "The result is a Culture Shock musical Desi roller coaster that hopefully everyone around the world will want to join."

It seems that Spears' camp was crucial in orchestrating the remix. "We wanted to build an even greater connection between the world's biggest pop star and one of the world's largest audiences," Mark Flaherty, senior vice president of Jive Label Group, says of the reimagined tune. "Britney has been engaged with South Asian culture for many years. From the groundbreaking Bollywood-inspired remix of 'Me Against the Music' to her recent collaboration with Indian fashion designers Falguni and Shane Peacock on the 'Hold It Against Me' video, she has embraced the incredible sights and sounds of this vibrant community throughout her career."

The original version of "Till the World Ends," the second single from Britney's Femme Fatale album, was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. At last look, the tune held the #8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Are you loving the Bollywood-style "Till the World Ends" remix? Tell us in the comments.

Help President Obama Decide Where To Speak On Graduation Day!

Voters have until Thursday to score the six high schools in the 'Race to the Top Commencement Challenge.'
By MTV News Staff

Voting is under way in the White House's "Race to the Top Commencement Challenge," and you have until this Thursday to weigh in on which school will win the honor and distinction of having President Obama deliver the commencement address at their graduation. Last year Michigan's Kalamazoo Central High School won and now there are six new schools looking to take the prize in 2011.

With the help of the White House, the Department of Education and Viacom's Get Schooled foundation, each school made a video that represents why it deserves to win. At WhiteHouse.gov/Commencement, you can view and score the videos from Bridgeport High School (Bridgeport, Washington); Wayne Early Middle College High School (Goldsboro, North Carolina); Booker T. Washington High School (Memphis, Tennessee); Science Park High School (Newark, New Jersey); Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12, School for Creative and Performing Arts (Pittsburgh); and High Tech High International (San Diego).

Science Park High School's video features stories from its students about the acceptance they feel from their peers, the tough classes they take and the social causes that the students are participating in to better the world around them.

Bridgeport High School's video gives outsiders on a tour of their school, where 90 percent of students are Latino, and features students' testimonials about the teachers that have given them the special attention they need to become the first in their families to graduate.

Wayne Early/Middle College High School's video focuses on the school's innovative curriculum, which gives students the opportunity to earn an associates degree while still in high school. Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12, School for Creative and Performing Arts' video shows off the school's "mosaic" curriculum.

Booker T. Washington High School's video shares how its students have overcome adversity in a region of Memphis known for its high rates of crime and poverty, so that now it has a graduation rate of 82 percent (up from less than 60 percent). As High Tech High International's name implies, its students are always using advance technology in the class room, but their video also emphasizes how they learn to work in a collaborative environment that reflects the real world.

"I'm looking for a school that understands the number one priority is making sure that our kids are learning what they need to succeed in this 21st century economy," President Obama said in a recent statement. And once voters choose the top two schools from this field of six, he'll select the one school he feels fulfills that requirement. Stay tuned to see who wins!

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha 'Till The World Ends' Remix Leaks

Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears' vocals throughout the song.
By James Dinh

Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends"
Photo: Jive

Britney Spears isn't the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale's second single, "Till the World Ends."

The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the stars' websites.

Mixing the dance tune's original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: "A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin', but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain't talkin' poultry when I say this chicken's fried."

After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song's first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. "It's Britney, bitch. I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha!" the Young Money MC proclaims.

Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track's chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer's lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the "Till the World Ends" remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break.

News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted, "@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!"

Have you heard the all-star "Till The World Ends" remix? Share your reviews in the comments!

Linkin Park? U2? Ke$ha? Behind MTV's Musical March Madness Selection

With the tipoff of our tournament set for Monday, Bigger Than the Sound breaks down your favorite band's chances of busting the bracket.
By James Montgomery

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington
Photo: Frank Hoensch/ Getty Images

Last year, when we launched the inaugural Musical March Madness tournament, we did it largely on a whim.

As I wrote when I revealed my original (handwritten) bracket, the basic idea was to combine my love of college basketball, gambling and rock music (and superfluous lists) into one magical event, and it really didn't matter that I hadn't figured out how bands would advance in the tournament or even what they'd get for winning. All I knew was that it seemed like a fun idea (especially since I didn't have anything else to write my column about that week) and that somewhere, there had to be someone who cared about these seemingly disparate things nearly as much as I did.

As it turned out, there were a lot of people who cared, and when it was all said and done — thanks to the efforts of a whole lot of folks, including Newsroom blog editor Kyle Anderson, who basically decided "You know what? People should vote on this!" — not only was Musical March Madness a certified success, but we somehow even managed to get an actual trophy to present to the winners, Coheed and Cambria, too. So, really, everybody won.

Of course, given the success of the original MMM, attention quickly shifted to the 2011 tournament. Last year, I basically just threw together a list of 64 bands (65, actually; who could forget the epic Against Me!/ Creed play-in battle?). For the 2011 tournament, however, I did research, monitored album sales and basically became a Selection Committee of one. And, yes, it took way longer than I ever could have imagined.

So, with the 2011 Musical March Madness set to tip off Monday — when we reveal our full bracket of 64 bands and launch voting in first-round matchups — I decided to pull back the curtain on that selection process. Some teams have all but locked up their spots in the 2011 tournament, while others still have some work to do. In the spirit of all things bracketological, here's my up-to-the-minute look at where your favorite bands stand for this year's MMM:

The #1 Seeds
The biggest bands in the land. Last year, I gave out #1's to Nickelback, Coldplay, Blink-182 and the Kings of Leon. Somewhat surprisingly, three-quarters of them ended up losing in the opening round of the tournament (only Blink survived, making it to the round of 32 before losing to 30 Seconds to Mars). Obviously, I overestimated the popularity of some of those acts, which means that, in 2011, to be a #1 seed, you have to have proven yourself as not only a rock-solid commodity, but an actual threat to win the championship too. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to have an album either in stores or coming soon. So here are my latest contenders for top seeds:

» Foo Fighters
» 30 Seconds to Mars
» Linkin Park
» My Chemical Romance
» Arcade Fire
» Vampire Weekend
» Muse
» The Black Keys
» Blink-182
» Radiohead
» Coldplay
» Mumford & Sons

The Foos have a hotly anticipated album coming down the pipeline, as does Coldplay. Are expectations enough to make them #1's? Or will the committee recognize the breakout success of the Black Keys, Muse and Mumford? Does a #1 album and a shocking Grammy win earn the Arcade Fire a top seed? Linkin Park and MCR both scuffed a bit with their latest albums, but does that matter, especially since they're both legacy acts with loyal fanbases (and, in the case of My Chem, are tournament-tested)? And will the committee ignore the fact that, by most accounts, Radiohead's latest was a bit of a letdown or that Blink-182 may never actually release their new album? As you can see, there are still plenty of questions left to be answered.

The Old Guard
Legacy acts with something left in the tank. In 2010, time-tested faves like Slipknot, the White Stripes, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Pearl Jam, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band all got invites to the big dance based largely on reputation alone (just think of them as the Dukes or Kansases of MMM). Of course, nearly all of them got knocked off in the first round, which means that this time around, reputation isn't going to be enough to punch their tickets. Shoot, some of these acts aren't even around anymore, which means that some deck-shuffling is in order. Here are the established acts that are still fighting for their tournament lives:

» Green Day
» Dave Matthews Band
» U2
» Red Hot Chili Peppers
» Rage Against the Machine
» Kid Rock
» Pearl Jam
» R.E.M.

Some (like the Chili Peppers and U2) have announced new albums this year, while others (like DMB) are planning to take 2011 off entirely. Still, whatever their status may be, the old guard remain forces at the cash registers and on radio, even if their latest albums didn't exactly light the world on fire. And ignoring that entirely just isn't possible. So how does the committee decide which make the field of 64? Good question. I'm still trying to figure out the answer.

The New Blood
Upset-minded young guns. The 2010 MMM featured up-and-coming acts like the Young Veins, 3OH!3, Owl City and MGMT. One year later, none of them are even on the radar. Picking new bands for MMM is always a challenge, though in 2011, there seem to be a handful who have all but secured their spots in the tournament, thanks to their breakout successes. I'm talking about the likes of:

» Mumford & Sons
» Florence and the Machine
» The Black Keys
» Cage the Elephant
» Sleigh Bells
» Adele

If the tournament started today, all of the above have been in (and some may even earn high seeds). But do any of them have enough to actually win the tournament? We'll just have to wait and see.

The Bracket Busters
Bands with solid, if not spectacular, résumés (weak out-of-conference schedules, etc.). Last year, this included eventual champs Coheed and Cambria, Final Four acts like Tokio Hotel, Elite Eight bands like Panic! at the Disco and Owl City, and even Patrick Stump, who rumbled all the way to the Sweet 16. In other words, the 2011 champion could very well come from this group. Here's my list of under-the-radar threats:

» Panic! (once again)
» Weezer
» The Decemberists
» Cake
» Paramore
» Avril Lavigne
» Crystal Bowersox
» Adam Lambert
» Death Cab for Cutie
» All Time Low

Two of the above — Cake and the Decemberists — have recent #1 debuts under their belts, while others have new albums on the horizon (DCFC, ATL, Avril). Others, like Bowersox and Lambert (who made the Sweet 16 last year), command insane fanbases, which make them dangerous on any day. Lavigne and ATL still have some work to do, but I'd consider all of the acts I just mentioned as safe for now.

The Bubble Bands
On-the-verge acts that need a little help to make it in. Maybe they win their conference championship, or maybe they PayPal the selection committee some cash, but these are the bands on the brink. In 2010, that included Panic! (no new album or single), the Gaslight Anthem (up-and-comers just learning to play together) and Coheed (largely ignored by mainstream radio). Most of those bands managed to do quite well in the tournament, while others, like Hollywood Undead, Lil Wayne, Them Crooked Vultures and the National, all flamed out in the tournament's opening round. Somewhat fittingly, it's a real feast-or-famine type of thing. Here's my updated list of bubble bands:

» Cobra Starship
» Ke$ha
» Tokio Hotel
» MGMT
» Train
» Adele
» Bret Michaels
» Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
» Taylor Swift

Right off the bat, neither Ke$ha nor Swift really rock (though Ke$h does use Jack Daniels as mouthwash), which makes them long shots. Tokio Hotel have done next to nothing since last year's tournament, but was their success enough to earn them a spot this year? Bret Michaels is basically indestructible at this point, so I'd consider him a lock. Cobra Starship are largely dormant but command a big enough fanbase to warrant consideration. MGMT's last album stiffed in spectacular fashion, which places them squarely on the soapy surface of the bubble.

So, will your favorite band make the cut for the 2011 Musical March Madness tournament? As you can see, the Selection Committee still has plenty of work to do — which means that, between now and Monday, I'll be burning the midnight oil, busting out the brackets and then re-busting them once again. It'll be a chore, but I bet it will be worth it. And I hope you'll be along for the ride. Your band needs you, after all.

MTV's 2011 Musical March Madness Tournament begins Monday, March 14, when we reveal the full field of 64 bands that will battle for the championship. Winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act makes the cut, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM — but get ready, it's gonna be a war.

Diddy-Dirty Money Stage New York Takeover On Coming Home Tour

Ja Rule, Ashanti also surprise fans before Diddy pays homage to B.I.G. with Bad Boy alums Faith Evans, Black Rob and more at Hammerstein Ballroom.

NEW YORK -- It was the homecoming leg on his Coming Home Tour, so it was only fitting that Harlem-born Diddy threw a Ciroc-soaked "white party" on Friday as Diddy-Dirty Money hit New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The trio worked the dance hits from their Last Train to Paris, but this was a show in three acts, with the mogul/MC reaching back to the dawn of Bad Boy to pay an expansive tribute to "Brooklyn's Finest" MC, the Notorious B.I.G., and bringing concertgoers along on a visual/sonic journey that spanned his unstoppable career.

Diddy-Dirty Money divas Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper preceded Diddy to the stage in looks that seemed to channel Grace Jones: Dawn in a thigh-baring cutout dress and Kalenna in a glittery romper, both sharing the creamy palette with Diddy, who was dressed in a sporty, all-white ensemble. The ladies kicked things off with "Yeah, Yeah You Would" (which features Jones), before an energetic Diddy emerged for the dance-floor banger "Ass on the Floor," with Swizz Beatz delivering the hook via a pre-taped clip that was mounted on enormous projectors -- an artfully executed stand-in used throughout the night for other LTP features like Rick Ross and Lil Wayne.

"Ain't no place like home!" Sean Combs told the excited crowd, touching on his Mt. Vernon, New York, upbringing and breaking down why no other city can match New York's swag.

An emotional undercurrent coursed through the entire show, and the series of delays that plagued Last Train to Paris, 41-year-old Combs' risk-taking concept album, seemed to be a particularly poignant theme on Friday night. Mr. "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" danced with abandon, his son Justin briefly joining him onstage with some sharp moves of his own. But Justin was only the first of a string of cameos, many from artists who'd once batted on Bad Boy's chart-busting lineup.

After performing "Loving You No More," "Yesterday" and a moody Sade medley from Dawn and K that seemed to slow things down too much for the club-like atmosphere they'd created, a B.I.G. video montage set the tone for the show's second act. Memorable images of the young Bedford Stuyvesant MC and budding mogul Puff Daddy flashed across the screen, following a linear "This Is Your Life"- style narrative.

Dawn and Kalenna ceded the stage to Diddy entirely as he launched into Bad Boy Records' shiny-suit era smashes, from "All About the Benjamins" to "Mo Money, Mo Problems." The New York audience lost it for the familiar classics, but went 'ham for the familiar faces. Formerly incarcerated Black Rob, in requisite black hoodie, turned up for "Whoa"; newly raven-haired Faith Evans sang a silky version of her "Love Like This"; and Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s Lil' Cease made a cameo.

"I was looking for inspiration before Last Train to Paris, and I was walking in Central Park one day and I heard this song," Diddy recalled, introducing A Tribe Called Quest MC and longtime Diddy pal Q-Tip. The duo treated fans to a spirited dance-off as they ticked off Tribe standards like "Check the Rhime" and Tip's "Vivrant Thing."

But the presence of the late Christopher Wallace hovered over the proceedings. Diddy, now rocking a vintage Versace shirt, profusely thanked his fallen brother as more B.I.G. videos played on an overhead screen to cheers and shouts. The standing-room crowd, waving hands and phones in the air, was fired up for the nostalgic trip. Things drew to an end with the other two thirds of DDM taking their places onstage again for the triumphant, introspective "Coming Home," followed by closer "Hello, Good Morning."

Opening act Lloyd had a few special guests of his own, bringing out his onetime Murder Inc. labelmates Ashanti and Ja Rule, who's several weeks away from a two-year jail sentence on gun charges. The gruff-voiced Ja showed little signs of rust on his Ashanti-featuring "Always on Time," the infectious chart-topping single that ruled the summer a decade ago. Lloyd's Young Money brethren and fellow opener Tyga hopped back onstage to drop his "BedRock" verse. And a go-go breakdown of "Lay Your Head" accompanied Wale's appearance with the crooner.

'Harry Potter' Films Could All Get 3-D Theatrical Releases, Producers Hint

'I suspect the studio is going to be reluctant to let it die,' David Heyman tells MTV News.

"Harry Potter" producers may have ditched plans to release "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" in 3-D last November, but they haven't abandoned bringing three dimensions to the film. The flick is currently being converted to 3-D for a Blu-ray release.

What's more, we just might see the rest of the franchise get the 3-D treatment too. "We're doing 3-D for the DVD of '7, Part 1,' and there's been no discussion of anything else yet," producer David Heyman told MTV News recently. "But I suspect the studio is going to be reluctant to let it die, and if there's an opportunity to maybe enrich ... "

Heyman left it at that, but those hints jibe with what he told us as far back as March 2010, when he said of converting the entire series, "I'm sure it's just a matter of time."

For now, filmmakers are racing to finish "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" ahead of the July release and working on the conversion of the first part for the Blu-ray.

"We're very pleased with the way 'Part 1' is going — the 3-D for the Blu-ray," producer David Barron said. "It's really exciting, really involved."

"I was surprised at how wonderful it is," Heyman added. "It is different in some ways [than the theatrical release], but it's enriching."

Additionally, they're continuing to work on theatrical 3-D effects for "Part 1," a process that has not yet been finished. "We haven't completed the first part in 3-D for film release, for theatrical," Barron said.

"The quality is quite different," Heyman explained. "It's much easier, in a way, to do 3-D for a smaller screen than it is for a bigger screen."

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1."

Lady Gaga Debuts 'Glee' Clip From 'Born This Way' Episode

Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment.

"Glee" is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they'll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance.

Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they'll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer's hit "Born This Way."

Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment.

"Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance," he says.

Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don't accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing "Born This Way."

"We're going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We're going to perform her anthem to acceptance, 'Born This Way,' " he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause.

Back in January, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes. "I love that that song is [an] anthem," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song."
